Electron microscopy techniques (TEM and SEM) include micro to nanoscale imaging (Bright Field/Dark Field, High resolution), spectroscopies (EDS, EELS), electron diffraction and mapping (ASTAR) and can extract information on morphology, microstructure, chemical nature of Cultural Heritage Materials.
The CEMES is equiped with several transmission electron microscopes and a Dual Beam (FIB/SEM) dedicated to the preparation of TEM samples. Researchers and engineers will provide counselling on the methodology for sample preparation and electron microscopy techniques, as well as data interpretation.
The expertise fields are on aluminium alloys, ceramics and ancient glass.
