Description
The NIPS station can accommodate larger objects for bulk elemental analysis, similar to PGAA station. Moreover, combining the position-sensitive prompt gamma-ray detection (i.e., image-driven prompt gamma-ray activation analysis at the NIPS) and neutron radiography/tomography (NR/NT at the NORMA), it is possible to determine localized amount of major elements and to visualize internal structures of heterogeneous objects in a non-destructive way. Neutron attenuation, scattering or radiative capture are used in various nondestructive methods to gain morphological, structural, elemental or isotopic information about the sample under study. The installation (NIPS-NORMA) consists of a well-shielded, Compton-suppressed HPGe detector; a CCD- or sCMOS-camera based imaging equipment and a motorized positioning system with sample support.
