Description
Aquatic 2-D/3-D ERT adapts resistivity imaging for shallow-water and submerged environments where electrodes are arranged along cables positioned on or above the seabed, and electrical current and voltage measurements are collected using configurations such as pole–dipole or dipole–dipole. 2-D ERT produces vertical resistivity sections along individual survey lines, 3-D ERT combines multiple closely spaced parallel profiles to reconstruct the geometry and continuity of buried features beneath the seabed. Static submerged arrays provide higher resolution for small archaeological targets, whereas dynamic or towed systems improve coverage. Accurate bathymetry and seawater conductivity are essential for reliable processing and interpretation.
