Description
AGLAE, the Grand Louvre Accelerator for Elemental Analysis, was first built at the Centre de recherche et de restauration des musées de France (C2RMF) in 1988 and is, so far, the only particle accelerator in the world fully dedicated to the physico-chemical characterisation of heritage materials. Already open to French, European, and international researchers, AGLAE has featured in several European projects such as Labs-TECH, EU-ARTECH, CHARISMA, IPERION-CH and IPERION-HS. It is now one of the most significant French contribution to the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science (E-RIHS). In order to enable better research on heritage materials, the New AGLAE beamline has been developped with improved performance and new features tailored for heritage scientists. These improvements include the beamline automation, enhanced chemical imaging, and a newer, more sensitive, multi-detector. ADVANTAGES: A database of analytical results on materials with known geochronological contexts and/or known authors, gathering more than 25 years of data; a unique geographical location in a secure museum complex; a specialized team with deep knowledge of ion beam analysis providing technical support and scientific expertise. The Euphrosyne for AGLAE digital platform enables FIXLAB users to remotely prepare experiments, complete radiation protection training requirements, manage beamtime activities, and access dedicated software tools for the visualization, processing and interpretation of AGLAE analytical data. During the analytical campaign, data and metadata generated by AGLAE are progressively integrated into the Euphrosyne Catalogue of AGLAE Data. Following quality control and, when applicable, an embargo period, metadata and selected datasets are published through the catalogue, enabling their discovery, access, citation and reuse in accordance with FAIR data principles. Integrated workflow in a nutshell: Euphrosyne for AGLAE (DIGILAB service compulsory with an AGLAE FIXLAB proposal to prepare the run) → AGLAE FIXLAB (experiment) → Euphrosyne for AGLAE (data processing and production) → Euphrosyne Catalogue of AGLAE Data (metadata curation, embargo management, publication, discovery and FAIR reuse of datasets).
