Description
Based on the images taken by the backscattered electron detector (BSE) and secondary electron detector (SE) of the scanning electron microscope (SEM), complex granulometric analyses can be performed, which can be combined with the quantitative and qualitative data recorded by the energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The method allows for a rapid granulometric analysis of up to several hundred mineral grains in a semi-automatic manner. The analysis can be supplemented with the mineralogical data of the examined minerals, which can be used to perform various granulometric analyses on a mineral-specific basis.
Application Examples:
- More accurate and faster heavy mineral analysis.
- Examination of grain size distribution on thin sections of ceramics or rocks, even by mineral phase.
